As my last blog post mentioned, there are many toll roads in Europe and many ways to pay. My outlaws confirmed that they used the Bip&Go system when travelling, as it is easy to use and takes away the worry and stress of working out what to pay and how. It's time for some research.

Bip&Go is a service that provides electronic toll payment solutions for seamless travel on motorways and in parking facilities across France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy.

Users benefit from simplified toll payments via reserved lanes, eliminating the need for tickets or cash. The service is available through several subscription options tailored to different usage patterns, from occasional travellers to frequent drivers.  There is also an app to manage expenses, plan routes, locate fuel stations, and book parking.

Functionality

Electronic Toll Badge:

The badge, called Liber-t, is placed on your vehicle's windscreen. As you approach a toll gate, the badge communicates wirelessly with the toll system, automatically processing the payment.

A beep confirms successful payment, and the barrier opens without needing cash or tickets.

Coverage:

Bip&Go is valid across motorways in participating countries, select bridges, tunnels, and over 1,300 car parks for electronic tolling.

App Integration:

A mobile app complements the badge, allowing users to track toll and parking expenses, calculate travel costs, and manage their account.

Subscriptions:

Bip&Go offers different plans to suit various usage patterns:

À la carte: Pay only when you use the badge.

Flat-rate: A fixed monthly fee for frequent users.

Liber-t Vacances: Specially designed for holiday voucher users.

Parking Access:

The badge works in compatible car parks, automatically charging fees to your account when you exit.

Cross-Border Use:

Valid for journeys in France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy, making it ideal for international road trips

How to Get Started

Order the Badge:

Sign up online and choose a subscription.

Install:

Attach the badge to your windscreen as instructed for optimal detection.

Drive Through Tolls:

Use dedicated electronic toll lanes, typically marked with an orange "t" symbol, for quick and smooth passage.
