119 GET ME SOME INSURANCE...

The mention of a Green Card in the last post had me scurrying around checking the details of my insurance policy to what I am and am not covered for when driving in Europe.

The good news is that I am covered in all the countries we will be visiting; the bad news is that the coverage is the minimum necessary to comply with the laws on compulsory insurance.

My existing policy automatically provides basic EU coverage for up to 90 days. It includes minimum third-party coverage in EU nations, windscreen repair and replacement, and emergency medical expenses up to £500.

The policy can be upgraded to the European Plus Package, which includes extended comprehensive coverage, higher coverage limits, longer trip durations, enhanced breakdown assistance, and additional accommodation costs.

It also includes emergency repair coverage, alternative transport costs, and, importantly, vehicle repatriation if needed.

The European Plus upgrade costs approximately £60-£120 extra and is another essential requirement to participate in the Bust Rallies event.  It is another thing to check before we leave.
