After another round of drinks, it was back into Booking.com to check out available digs, this time in the German city of Freiburg. Again, we dipped into the Bust Rallies Bible to see what they suggested and then completely ignored them!
Namur is an old town which came to prominence in Roman times and is filled with quaint old buildings. Freiburg is much bigger, and the city centre is modern, so it was unlikely we would find another chateau to stay in, which turned out to be spot on.

We put the people/room/parking requirements into the website and then went through the list.
It quickly became apparent that we would have more traditional choices of accommodation with brands we had heard of and stayed with. And so it was that we landed at a Marriott hotel.
Although it is a big-name chain, the hotel still has local charm combined with ultra-modern facilities and, again, that all-important parking, this time in a secure underground car park.
It is in the centre of the city, meaning we will be close to the bars and restaurants - I can't wait to get a big, German sausage in me! I'll also be able to pick up a bottle of locally produced Kirsch (a clear, dry brandy distilled from the fermented juice of sour morello cherries), a delicacy of the Black Forest region.
Once more, the credit card was whipped out, the rooms were selected, the details were entered, and shortly after, the confirmation was received. We move from a chateau to an ultra-cool city centre hotel - variety is the spice of life, and all that on to the next city.
