36 A DIFFERENT STORY...

Another day, another great car popped up on Auto Trader. Okay, so it isn’t 100% perfect (it doesn’t have the right wheels, and there is no mention of the cam belt and water pump being replaced), but it does have a lot going for it on paper, as it has only 50,000 miles on the clock and has only had two owners from new.

The most important thing is that it is being sold by a company that looks reputable. There are loads of pictures on Auto Trader, a link to their website, and the ability to download a detailed report on the car. Also, I messaged them on a Saturday, and they immediately replied - a good sign.

I sent them a quick message, limited to 250 characters, to ask if the cam belt and water pump had been replaced and if they would be okay with me getting the AA in to inspect the car. 

After my last encounter with a car dealer I wasn’t holding out too much hope but I was surprised to get a really positive reply.

Ed from the company replied to say that he was away from the office so couldn’t confirm if the cam belt and water pump had been replaced, but if I was interested in the car they would replace the parts free of charge, that is a cool £400 potentially saved - blimey.  Also, not only would they be happy for the AA to attend, they will make space in their workshop for the engineer to work - blimey x2!

I replied to Ed to say thanks and to make him aware that it could take a few days for the AA to arrive and would he be ok to reserve the car until the engineer had a chance to give it a once over.   He replied “That’s no worries at all. Just keep me updated as to when you can get the inspection and we can go from there.” - blimey x3!

I’ll wait to hear from him on Monday and book the AA.  Hopefully, my expectations will continue to be exceeded, and then it is just a matter of organising a trip to get it.  Oh, did I mention, the car is in Poole, Dorset!
