105 I'LL PROTECT YOU FROM THE HOODED CLAW...

I'm writing this at Christmastime, and the Frankie Goes To Hollywood song 'The Power Of Love' is getting a fair bit of rotation (even though it isn't a Christmas song; it just has a Christmas video - clever marketing from someone), hence the title of this post.

The post has nothing to do with the band or the song; it is about an anti-theft device I bought and have been wrestling with for the last hour.  I've picked up the Centinel Clutch Claw. This portable device helps ensure my little car is still outside in the morning (hopefully).

The Claw works by immobilising the clutch and brake pedals by clamping them between a bright yellow, hardened steel handlebar, which is then locked into place, making it impossible to drive the car normally.  It is an absolute pain in the hoop to fit, so I'm guessing it will be the same to remove.

As a professional car thief said in an article I read a while back, if they want a car, any car, they will get it. Devices like the Claw make it more difficult, which is all I expect from this device.

It is bright yellow, has a dirty great lock on the front, and has a flashing LED light on the top to advertise it is there, which will hopefully be enough for a scummy car robber to look elsewhere.

It is an affordable way to add extra protection to my little car. It is small enough to leave in the boot or under the seat and, according to the blurb, features an intuitive design that ensures quick deployment. I have issues with this, although I guess it will get easier to fit with practice.

Fancy one? I ordered directly from the manufacturer, who had a deal on at the time. I also received a 10% 'first order' discount, meaning it cost just over £120 with free P&P. It sounds expensive, but if the car is still outside in the morning because of it, it is worth every penny.
