212 CAP IT OFF...

I promise you, I don't always go on the internet looking for things to buy for the rally; sometimes stuff just drops into my lap, like this smart-looking piece of headwear.

So there I was, looking through my emails, deleting the endless offers I receive from websites I use, when something caught my eye. The webstore 'Size?' sent me a mailout featuring a pair of Diadora Tital Elite in a delicious pale blue shade (see below, right), with soft yellow and purple accents.  Costal Tones they call it, fit I say.

Now, I have a training shoe fetish, so the odds of me buying those Diadora bad boys were high, but I was good (for now) and resisted.

Before deleting the mail, I had a quick skim to see what else they recommended for me and alongside a pair of pink women's sandals and some weird Nike Rift flip-flop things that apparently mimic the barefoot quality of Kenyan distance runners (see below again, far right), was the Nike Racing Cap, which made me swoon.

The cap is designed to ape those worn on the podium by Formula 1 race winners, with laurel wings on the peak, the Nike 72 number on one side, and a weird abstract image of 'Nike: The Goddess of Victory'. The only real problem is that it was red. Now we do have red in our colour scheme, but I'm still not wearing a red cap, don't want to be mistaken for a MAGA or, even worse, a Kopite!

The good news is that it also comes in black and gold, which isn't much good for me, but matches the Just Please Squint colour scheme perfectly. I fired a link over to Carl to see if it was of interest to him. After a quick mooch online, I found they did it in beautiful light blue, which is also part of our colour scheme and is much more palatable than red.

The only part I don't really like is the big, daft, black rectangle on the front with 'NIKE' written on it. Other than that, I think it is great, but at £40 it is too expensive.

I'm torn, on the one hand, it is so pretty, but on the other, Nike is pushing their luck asking forty nuggets for it. For a tenner less, I can get an official Martini cap and colour it in the last 'i ' with a Sharpie. Decisions, decisions...
