11 LOVELY LEGS...

So, what are we signing up for?  The official blurb goes, "Monte Carlo or Bust is Europe's ultimate banger rally adventure, and you would be mad not to want a slice of Black Forest Gateau!  Beginning in Namur, Belgium, and finishing in Monte Carlo, a trip through six countries.  Sights include the Black Forest, Lake Como and the incredible Gotthard pass."  Below is the itinerary from last year.

Day Zero Registration Evening: Thursday - Namur, Belgium

Black Forest Gateau starts in the capital of Wallonia, Namur.  The town is famous for its small cobbled streets, lively squares and a huge selection of cured meats and beers.  Namur is approximately 2.5 hours from Calais.  All teams are required to register the night before the event at the rendezvous spot between 19:00 and 00:00.

Day One: Friday - Namur, Belgium to Freiburg, Germany

Day one includes an optional stop at Bastogne, a famous battle site from WWII.  Back on the road, your banger will drive through the beautiful valleys of Luxembourg - remembering to fill the tank with some of the cheapest fuel in Europe.  We end the day amongst the mountains of the Black Forest in Freiburg.  We'll find delicious food, wonderful scenery, saunas and lake swimming here.

Day Two: Saturday - Freiburg, Germany to Menaggio, Italy

Day two sees us cross the border into Switzerland and enjoy the alpine roads and mountain passes as we cross one of Europe's most beautiful countries.  The green hills and valleys turn to snow-capped mountains as we head further South, and we'll keep a low gear as we head up to the Gotthard Pass and descend via some adrenaline-pumping twists and turns and cross the Devil's Bridge.  We finish our day on Lake Como's shore and Menaggio's beautiful town.  Here, we'll watch the sunset over the water and sample the excellent local food and wine.

Day Three: Sunday - Menaggio, Italy to Monte Carlo, Monaco

Day three starts with an optional trip on a car ferry across the lake.  From here we'll drive through the Italian countryside.  Some may be tempted by a stop at Monza on the way.  Once on the main roads, we'll wind through the magnificent scenery and head for the sea to meet up with the coastal road E80 and experience spectacular scenery as we cruise across the border into France.  A few more mountain turns, and you'll be crossing the finish line in Monte Carlo!  What better way to finish than having a quick lap of the F1 circuit and then cruising past a Bentley at the Casino.

With the rally and challenges officially over, we ask that you join us in Nice for the evening.  The final Rendezvous includes presentations, speeches, and a few other surprises—not to be missed!
