Carl was also invited to the birthday party at Dave and Jacky’s and decided to wear some of his ‘rally wear’.  Having decided to go full JPS, he has already bought clobber to compliment his car.  The first two items were a very smart black Fred Perry polo shirt with gold piping and logo and a pair of all-black Adidas trainers.  I pointed out that the trainees were only half there, and he confirmed he had bought a pot of gold paint to ‘customise’ them - he was serious.

Fancy dress is a big part of the Bust Rally events.  People go to great lengths to dress up like Vikings, Dalmatian dogs, and members of the Star Trek cast.  That isn’t my scene, to be honest, but I think we need to make some effort, so I’ve decided that Lisa and I will dress in the style of the pit crew, i.e., team t-shirts, shorts, and possibly even trainees.

A quick look on Etsy shows tons of Martini Racing clobber available.  Everything from T-shirts to polos to coats in lots of different colours.  I think the plan is for us to wear navy blue shorts and white Martini t-shirts across the three days so people can tell we have made some effort.

Carl agreed and will be bouncing around Switzerland in black and gold T-shirts, khaki shorts, and his modified black trainers.  Oh, and he has already bought a pair of black driving gloves.  I told him they looked like something OJ Simpson would wear, and he claimed they had many purposes!

He also said he was getting a t-shirt with the words “If it has tits or tyres, I can make it squeal” written on the back.  Lisa said if he got it, he wouldn’t be coming with us…

It would look effective if we could cajole Dave, Jacky, Richie, and Rachel to follow suit - little race teams in matching outfits and tiny, shoddily decorated cars.  From a distance, we would look almost professional.  Just please squint and all that...
